UpRooted was purchased from the McHenry Savings Bank in June of 2015, by Daniel Smith and Elizabeth Du Plain. It is located a quarter mile east of the Fox River, on thee north side of Rt. 120 McHenry. It was originally built in 1938 and through the years three additions were added. To our knowledge it started out as a bar, maybe a small restaurant, becoming the McHenry Moose Lodge. In the late eighties Ron Monaco purchased the building and Off-Track Betting was located in the building.

Dan and Liz gutted the entire building and redid the roof, electrical, plumbing and changed out the well to city water and changed the tank to city sewer. The inside has new bathrooms that are handicap accessible. A new kitchen with new exhaust hood and all new equipment. The dining room has all new walls and ceiling, which will make a nice dining experience. The bar area has been done in new hickory, hard maple and pine. It really is a beautiful transformation! The outside has been freshly painted and has a large deck in front.

Our restaurant offers Certified Angus Beef steaks, seafood, antibiotic and hormone free chicken, vegetarian/vegan and seasonal specials.  Although we are not a gluten free establishment, we do offer some gluten friendly items. We offer substitutions and will try our best to be accommodating.

Dan and Liz have over fifty years' experience in the food service industry. They both believe that McHenry is a great place for their unique restaurant and hope that you come in and check it out.
